Introduction to p7zip

p7zip is the Unix command-line port of 7-Zip, a file archiver that archives with high compression ratios. It handles 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2, XZ, TAR, APM, ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DEB, DMG, FAT, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, LZMA2, MBR, MSI, MSLZ, NSIS, NTFS, RAR RPM, SquashFS, UDF, VHD, WIM, XAR and Z formats.

This package is known to build and work properly using an LFS-8.3 platform.

Installation of p7zip

Install p7zip by running the following commands:

make all3

To test the results, issue: make test.

Now, as the root user:

make DEST_HOME=/usr \
     DEST_MAN=/usr/share/man \
     DEST_SHARE_DOC=/usr/share/doc/p7zip-16.02 install


If using DESTDIR techniques, use DEST_DIR instead.


Installed Programs: 7z, 7za, and 7zr
Installed Libraries: None
Installed Directory: /usr/lib/p7zip and /usr/share/doc/p7zip-16.02
